One of America’s best-known firearms trainers, Clint Smith was a U.S. Marine in Vietnam, police officer in Indiana and Gunsite instructor under Col. Jeff Cooper before venturing out on his own to build Thunder Ranch. Clint is also a writer and video producer with hundreds of credits to his name, including in GUNS Magazine and American Handgunner.

Started in Texas and now located in the beautiful mountains of southern Oregon, Thunder Ranch has an unparalleled reputation as one of the most influential firearm training institutions in the world, where a certificate of completion is highly coveted among serious shooters.

While attending a media event at Thunder Ranch, Brent T. Wheat sat down with Clint in his home to talk about life, shooting and why he sometimes (unapologetically) inspires wrath among “internet mall ninjas.”
