Ruger RXM
First Shots & Initial Impressions
I’ll say it right up front: the Ruger RXM might just be the “GLOCK Killer.”
Yes, it’s compatible with many GLOCK Gen3 parts, but that’s only the beginning. What immediately struck me was how much better it feels in the hand. The trigger is noticeably crisper than a factory GLOCK’s, and the removable serialized chassis lets you swap grip modules to fit your hand. With Magpul’s Enhanced Grip frame, even those of us with short, stubby fingers can finally get a grip that feels just right.
The feature list is impressive, too. You get tritium sights, an optics-ready slide, optional threaded barrels, multiple color options, a 15+1-round capacity and a 4-inch barrel. More than anything, though, I came away impressed by the overall fit and finish. I’m generally not a huge fan of polymer-framed pistols because many have mushy triggers, but this one surprised me. Dare I say it? The trigger is actually crisp.
Of course, talking about a pistol only gets you so far, so I handed it to my friend J.C. It was his first time shooting the RXM — and his first experience with the GLOCK grip angle.
Based on our first impressions, the RXM deserves a serious look.
MSRP: $539 – $599
