LaserMax Centerfire Laser

Ruger’s LC9s carries easy, shoots fast and straight, and the two variants I’ve used over 3 years have never failed me. But a natural improvement to this lightweight 9mm would be adding a LaserMax Centerfire laser. Installing on the triggerguard and under the muzzle—two parts with two screws and you’re done in about 2 minutes, if you’re slow—the Centerfire’s brilliant red laser emits from directly under the center of the bore, hence the Centerfire name. But it’s more than clever, the closer to the actual bore a laser can emit, the more true its aim at varying distances.

Activate the laser by pressing a small switch from either side of the laser. Touch, it’s on. Touch, it’s off. No, this laser does not turn on automatically—you have to go through the additional step to activate it. Why? Not everyone wants the laser to shine on the draw. You’ll not feel any appreciable increase in weight from the addition of the laser, but you’ll immediately appreciate how much faster and more accurately you can aim. You’ll also like the fact the LaserMax unit’s housing looks identical to the Ruger’s polymer frame—like they were made to go together.

Easily switch laser point style from a continuous red dot or pulsing red dot by holding down either switch for about seven seconds. Adjust windage and elevation with the included Allen wrench. The Centerfire Laser draws power from a single battery and will turn itself off after 10 minutes of use. Want to remove it from the LC9s for a while? No problem. Again, two screws and 2 minutes and it’s off with no change to the Ruger whatsoever. The LaserMax Centerfire Laser also comes in green; the red version here retails for $149.
