After the recent lethal force shooting at West Freeway Church of Christ in Texas, church security is on everyone’s mind. In response to questions from readers and listeners, Host Brent T. Wheat and GUNS/American Handgunner Publisher Roy Huntington, both retired police officers, discuss how to start a church safety team.

Requiring more than a few congregation members with concealed firearms, the keys to a successful church security team are planning and training. In some locations, local law enforcement agencies and other church security teams are happy to work with places of worship on their security needs and even lend their expertise.
