Sharps Bros. Meanstreak 3.5
Broad-shouldered EDC
Sharps Bros., an aftermarket manufacturer to the firearms trade, has launched a cutlery division and, if looks could kill, they’re off to a good start. The Meanstreak 3.5 is the largest of three siblings in a trio of very sleek — yet very beefy — folders geared to the hip EDC crowd.
The Meanstreak’s 3.5″ moniker connotes blade size and, fully opened, it stretches out to a healthy 8.375″. The folder’s Titanium handle is slim and gracefully curved from the pivot to the base with a partial diamond grid pattern on the surface for added traction. Out back is an integral-lock mechanism and a healthy reversible pocket clip mounted for tip-up carry. Despite its graceful, flowing lines, the Meanstreak 3.5 is built like a brick outhouse, thanks to healthy 6AL-4V Titanium frame slabs giving the folder added strength and weight. The entire handle is glass bead-blasted for reduced glare.
The beauty of the Meanstreak may just lie in its stonewashed Drop Point blade deploying smoothly on a pivot with caged ball-bearings. Sharps Bros. chose Crucible Industries’ CPM MagnaCut stainless to handle the Meanstreak’s cutting chores. MagnaCut is currently the hottest steel on the market for both fixed-blades and folders — as of this writing, it shows no sign of letting up.
Why you’ll like it
The Sharps Bros. Meanstreak 3.5 is an atypical combination of stout and stylish with good looks that stand out in the crowd. Add to the upscale credentials of CPM MagnaCut steel plus a 6AL-4V Titanium frame and you have the makings of a fine cutting machine. The Meanstreak 3.5 has an MSRP of $279.95, very reasonable for an uptown brawler this well made.
