Out of the box, this 2A Armament rifle weighs 5 lbs. — a lightweight in its class. You can tell as soon as you pick it up. Add a full magazine and an Aimpoint optic and the weight goes up to 6.2 lbs. By most measures, this is still quite light. To be clear, I’ve not had to carry a rifle all day while wearing combat or tactical gear, but I have earned a Gunsite certificate, graduating from their Carbine course. And that required carrying, loading, and firing about 700 rounds from an AR-15 over three days of intensive instruction. So I can say, based on my experience, a lighter rifle would have been appreciated. I would guess the same sentiment would hold for those who carry a rifle for long hours on regular patrols.
Shooting this BLR 16 is awesome — reliable, accurate, steady, sure. You don’t really tire of holding it at aim so you just keep shooting and shooting. Every one of my buddies who tried it loved it. They all expected it to be heavier, based on its appearance. It wasn’t.
Besides the light weight, my favorite features on this 2A Arms rifle include the following: the minimalist stock, the BCM Mod4 charging handle (medium latch to make support hand charging easier), and the light weight. Which I think I already mentioned.
