Federal .22 LR Shot Cartridges
Okay, at first I thought “but why?” too. My early experiences with these tiny shot cartridges were in rifled revolvers. The problem is the rifling tends to scatter the shot, so after about six feet, groups are too erratic to be reliable. Combining the new Federal .22 LR shot round (25 grains of #12 shot at 1,000 fps) with Henry’s unrifled “Garden Gun” changes everything. The context has been around for a hundred years: A smoothbore, small caliber “shotgun” used to keep pests away has been proven to work.
The target in the photo was shot at about 15 feet and it shows a dense, well-centered pattern. This would spell the end to rats, mice, pigeons in the barn and, as the name implies, critters in the vegetable garden!
